One Pot Boiled Dinner sweet pickled pork "cottage roll" 2 or 3 medium to large onions, peeled 1 large cabbage, cut in wedges 1 medium rutabaga, peeled and cut in wedges 4 large carrots, peeled and cut in four 8 medium potatoes, peeled and whole Put the cottage roll in a large pot and fill with enough water to cover the meat (about 3/4 full). Boil on high while preparing the vegetables. Add the onions to the pot and continue to boil. Once it has been boiling for about 45 minutes to an hour, add the cabbage, then the turnip and carrots. When this has been boiling for about 30 minutes, add the potatoes and continue boiling until all the vegetables are cooked through. Whatever is left over is cut into small bits and mixed to be fried together the next day and served as "Bubble and Squeak". This tastes delicious on it's own, or can be served with sweet mustard pickles or ketchup if you like. Note: Save the broth from the boiled dinner (by freezing it) to add to homemade soup.
